Im new to Rust, Coming from C does it ever stop being frustrating?
Don't get me wrong i can appreciate the good things about the language. But its so tricky to work things out. Nothing seems to be what you expect it to be. The first programs i make when learning a new language are string manipulation ones, ive never been so confused in my life.
oh this should read an argument I'm expecting a string no its an option or I'm iterating through an array I'm expecting the next element no I need to unwrap to see if its Some or None or a char, not its a string and a &str now its back to an iter
i am going through a &str split into chars() want to make this uppercase and push it to a String, nope to\_uppercase doesnt return a char because unicode can have chars with two bytes etc etc. I know the language is super powerful but seems like when you go to school and the pcs are locked down and you can literally do nothing that could possibly damage the pc
just goes on and on, how long does it take to get to make something in rust without having to have a million page reference of what everything is or returns
