Spiderfire, a JavaScript Runtime using SpiderMonkey
I have been working on spiderfire for a couple of months now.
This project primarily started because I thought that it was bad for V8 to have a monopoly on server-side JavaScript. (Node.js & Deno)
There are still a lot of things to do, such as cryptography, networking, and timeouts & intervals. Those will all come with time, as I get more familiar with SpiderMonkey's API, and implement them. I plan to eventually have quite a comprehensive standard library, including support for QUIC.
Currently, there is file system access and an event loop for promises. I have built the APIs to be relatively flexible, for future additions.
If you want to support the project, or want to see it grow, consider filing an issue or contributing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
This will not be available on crates.io even when I properly launch this due to a bug in cargo. (See: https://github.com/rust-lang/cargo/issues/6917)
Warning: I do not suggest building this yourself unless you have a somewhat powerful CPU.
