Lust v2, The auto optimising image server is out! Bringing with it support for s3 blob storage and even better docs and performance!
After several months of neglect, I've finally gotten around to rewriting the smoking hot image server, lust!
For those who don't know what lust is:
Lust is an auto-optimising image server, designed for high throughput and low latency handling of images, now that is hot. Re-encode uploaded images into
png, jpeg, webpor even intogifbased formats!Resize them to your liking automatically with sizing presets, instantly create small, medium and large variants with just a few lines in a config file. Now that's the spirit of lust
And much more like caching, on the fly resizing and different processing modes to name a few.
The full list of changes can be found here: https://github.com/ChillFish8/lust/releases/tag/2.0.0
The highlights:
- High-performance Scylla DB backend
- S3 compatible blob storage support
- 100% documented API powered by Poem and is fully in line with the generated spec.
- More adaptable caching - Memory capped caching - Item-based caching.
- More customisations
- Faster!
Hopefully this is useful to anyone looking to serve lots of images with low latency and high throughput, with some fairly basic benchmarking I was able to encode up to 60 images a second with each image being encoded into 3 different formats and resized twice with a 6 core CPU.
