If you already know what you are doing:

Everyone else start here:

r/place is a collaborative art project put on by reddit. It was last done in 2017. The rules are simple: every reddit user can place a pixel every 5 minutes. In 2017 we were able to build a sizable region dedicated to the rust programming language, and a number of rust projects as well (e.g. redox).

This year, despite the map being 4 times bigger, it's much more competetive for space. We've managed a smaller ferris (which has only survived an attack by the streamers mizkif and xqc through the help of our neighbour foxhole), the name of our subreddit, a turbofish, a rust cog wheel down in the new world (the bottom half of the map) and two projects written in rust (https://modrinth.com/ and https://veloren.net/).

You can find these projects at 735,626 (most of it) and 497,1584 (a small rust cog).

If you'd like to help out, all you need to do is go to https://new.reddit.com/r/place, and start putting pixels down to defend us! If you want to know which those are, we recommend using the userscript and overlay we have linked above. This isn't botting, and has generally been accepted as 'not cringe' by the r/place community. All it does is puts a smaller coloured dot in the middle of incorrect squares to tell you what to change them to.

Our goal is simple: defend our art, and be in the final image.

When will that image be frozen, we don't know. 18 hours ago reddit said place would end tomorrow which means it will end somewhere between this post being 6 hours old, and this post being 30 hours old.

If you want to coordinate in a faster paced communication channel, you can join our thread in the rust community discord, it's under the #casual-chill channel and linked above!
