Compiler Project

A compiler built in rust as part of a group project at Imperial College.

Compiles a basic language (WACC) to arm assembly and can perform a variety of optimisations.

Really proud of this project and what our team accomplished, 3 months start to finish while doing significant other university work including a compilers module. It ain't perfect, but it's honest work.

Traditionally this project is done in Java, with a few groups in Haskell. This year improved support for Kotlin and Scala resulted in Scala becoming the most popular language chosen.

This year 3 groups (including ours) used Rust, despite officially being unsupported (enthusiastic staff unofficially supported, and were able to interpret mark schemes for it) - making it a bit of a risk/unknown to gamble a significant portion of our grade on. As-per the sacred tenants of the ferrisdom significant evangelism has been done, and I expect far more groups to choose Rust in the next few years.
