openschafkopf: A tool to play/investigate the Bavarian card playing game, written in Rust
Hi all, I've been "working" on a tool for the game Schafkopf in my sparetime, written in Rust:
https://github.com/phimuemue/openschafkopf
I started out in C++, but quickly moved over to Rust, and found the language very pleasant to work with.
Unfortunately, I could not really decide what the tool's main goal should be, so as of now, it can do quite a bit - but nothing is particularly polished (in particular, there are almost no nice error messages).
Nonetheless, it allows you to play the game, to analyze played games (e.g. downloaded from sauspiel) or to ad-hoc analyze certain situations during the game and some other (more or less useful) things. I collected some usage examples in the github repo.
If anyone is interested (as far as I can tell, Schafkopf is a game somewhat popular in developer circles), I'm more than happy to provide additional information.
