Shuttle v0.3.3 is out! (Serverless Rust)
Hey r/Rust!
For anyone who wants to get into Rust web dev - Shuttle v0.3.3 is out!
As a reminder, Shuttle is an open-source serverless platform for Rust which makes it really easy to deploy your web-apps (1 annotation on your main function + change). If you're curious as to how it works, check out this short video which goes over a hello-world example.
This release comes with some highly requested changes:
- You can now run shuttle projects locally with
cargo shuttle run. This provides a better developer experience and tighter feedback loop while working on your Rust code. - We now support WebSockets out of the box! Here's an example app showing off the feature with the corresponding source.
- Project code is automatically tested before it's deployed to ensure you always have a healthy deployment. (You can optionally skip this with
cargo shuttle deploy --no-test) - Finally, we've made some big stabilisation improvements! Explicit version checking (while we're in Alpha projects must have the latest version of
shuttle-service) along with bind-time panic catching result in a much smoother experience with better stability and uptime.
To get started, take a look at the docs or come join the Discord server and say hello!
A special thank you to all our contributors and the community for forging the future of Shuttle! There's more exciting changes coming so stay tuned!
