Update to Spyglass (personal search engine) to search through local text files
tl; dr: I'm building Spyglass https://github.com/a5huynh/spyglass an open source search platform that lives on your device, indexing what you want, exposing it to you in a super simple & fast interface.
Searching through the rust book
I just released a new update today that lets you index and search through your local text files (\.md\\ & \.txt\\ at the moment). I've been using it search through my markdown notes and some local documentation (in addition to all the other web search support in Spyglass 🙂)
The app works on all platforms and is still early stage but I'd love to get feedback and see what sort files/docs they'd want to search through.
Some details about the stack for the interested:
- All Rust w/ a smattering of HTML/CSS for the client side.
- Client is built in Yew/Tauri
- Backend uses tantivy to index the web pages, sqlite3 to hold metadata / crawl queue
- Plugins system uses WebAssembly
Thanks in advance!
