Asynchronous query execution with (almost) any database in Rust
odbc-api 0.49.0 released with first support for async.
- ODBC is a standard C-Interface for database access, which is supported by (almost) all databases.
odbc-apiis a (mostly) safe wrapper around it.
This may be good news to you if you want to execute asynchronous queries against a database for which no one bothered to write a native async Rust drivers. One caveat: The ODBC driver of your database has to actually support this behaviour.
The odbc C-Interface supports two asynchronous modes: Notification and polling. This first iteration sticks with the polling mode, because currently I've no idea how to make notification work in Linux.
I normaly do not announce odbc-api releases here, but I feel this is an important enough feature to do so; and I am also somewhat proud of it.
Cheers
