Chartered (permissioned Cargo registry) now has a public instance free for all
Chartered is a permissioned Cargo registry, allowing for granular per-user per-crate permissions (Visible, Publish Version, Yank Version, Manage Members, Create Crate).
Read more about it on the User Guide.
It is currently in active development on GitHub, feel free to join in or just follow along. As it's fairly early days for a production-ready instance Chartered, you may find some surprising behaviours like being able to orphan organisations from the Web UI - "just don't do that".
Please note that whilst the backing crate store is Cloudflare R2 and the frontend is Cloudflare Pages, the API is not highly available and you shouldn’t depend on this for your company to work. As development continues, the service will be scaled out to more than just one Hetzner box.
Since this is just one Hetzner box continually deployed from master, you may see a few seconds of outage as the image switchover happens.
If that wasn’t enough, currently pulling crates from CI is not a fully supported use-case and requires adding an SSH key to your account and adding it to your CI's secret store, essentially granting all of your CI pipeline's users read/write access to the same crates that you do (so not ideal). That's being tracked here.
