Rust… an ingenious language that’s overwhelming me and motivating me at the same time. Need advice from advanced rust engineers

I’ve been doing rust for about a year privately, as a personal interest that tickles my intellectual fancy. I’m at a phase where I understand the mechanics of ownership etc but stuck at moving ahead. I’m not sure what to learn next because I know that I don’t know alot of concepts in rust. So I decided to build a simple project, but when I try to use libraries aka crates they overwhelm me in terms of understanding the underlying semantics of the api. That leads me to an overwhelming sensation about rusts syntax. It’s insanely different from other languages that I’ve worked with.

My goal with any language is to be productive and not an all knowing master. The more productive I feel the greater the need to dive deeper, but I can’t seem to get a momentum with rust.

I’m stuck at having information about rust and not true knowledge, I want to build something more than just a basic project with rust and I need help understanding how should I proceed.

Do I take a few steps back and just practise all concepts about rust ? Do I actually push past this feeling and grind through building a project i want ?

Need advice.

Edit: wonderful responses from the community!
I’ve got a much clearer picture as to how I should move ahead, grateful to you guys.
Redditor @GideonMe suggested to list some of my interests so that you guys can suggest material for me to refer as I learn.
I love systems hence building servers like reverse proxies, DNS servers, web servers and anything related to network programming :)
