Welp I just finished my first personal project in Rust
My opinion is worth as much as any other young hobbyist but I've been learning/using C++ for about 3 years now and I do enjoy it a lot! it's one of my favorite languages just purely from spending so much time with it (Stockholm syndrome?) and that foot-gun standing on 4 cans like a chihuahua is my best friend and I don't hate it at all.
but man- Rust is actually another tool I'm excited to develop skills in. It's like a breath of fresh air in the segmentation-fault filled nuclear wasteland.
My first project was one I've done in every other language I wanted to get a foothold in quickly: A cheap directory-based version of make... yes ironically my first rust project was compiling C++ code.
Is it useful in anyway? No. you can't even link a library but man did it show me around the rust language a lot. I obviously still have a bunch of "C++ isms" and it's not very "rusty" but I'm excited to see what comes next.
https://github.com/secrart/tinymakeinrust here's the code. Here's one thing I can say: It's BAD like... Cobol programs from 1972 be lookin real nice after this. Please feel free to tell me how I can be more "Rusty\
