Optimization of memcpys in rustc and LLVM 16
Patrick Walton has been putting up exciting pull requests for optimization of memcpys in rustc and LLVM 16 over the past few weeks (e.g. rustc pull request). Even he has said, "I'm getting more convinced that Rust code is generally going to end up faster than C++ code every day I work on optimizations." (Tweet1).
In this tweet he writes about assembly code improvements in the standard library print() code.
Just out of curiosity, will the improvements matter to a lot of code, or is print() something special here?
