C++ Developer at work refuses to use a Rust library, how do I convince him?

He's been programming for 20 years. Whenever someone mentions Rust he's always visibly upset. There's a Rust library that does what we want and it has C bindings, but he says Rust is "not secure" and that he can just write the code himself from scratch... What should I do? All my other team members agree, how do I convince him?
