Hey /r/rust!

tl;dr: I'm going full-time on my Spyglass project, an open-source personal search engine that crawls & indexes everything you want locally on your device.

It's been a fun journey since my first post about this project and I'm excited to announce that I'll be going full-time on Spyglass.

There's been a ton of changes recently as I ramp up:

• Over 20+ lenses built by the community for better web search.
• More local file search support, including Excel/Word docs.
• Support for indexing Google Calendar events & Google Drive files.
• And lots of integrations in the pipeline!
  • Gmail
  • YouTube
  • Reddit Saved Posts, upvoted, etc.
  • <your thoughts here 🙂>

Here's a little demo gif so you can see some of it in action:

Want to help?

There's so much of our data that is locked away in different walled gardens that are unsearchable and undiscoverable. I want to turn Spyglass into the tool you use to search your favorite topics/communities/files/etc.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think, I'd appreciate any and all feedback! 🙂
