What’s the best high-level companion to Rust?
Kinda/sorta inspired by the corollary to this post, I’m curious about what the Rust community prefers as a high level companion to Rust. By that, I mean more as a complement. A common, and largely necessary pattern in computer science is abstraction layers, so obviously Rust can’t be a silver bullet for all things having to do with code.
So you. The experienced Rust developer. When it’s appropriate to use a higher level language for various reasons, which do you choose? Why? What do you think is a good language to add to the stack when Rust is taking care of the lower level stuff?
I ask this more for philosophical reasons. I’m aware that I can duct tape any two languages together if I really wanted to, but I mean it from the perspective that Rust developers (and Go, for that matter) have a high bar for quality-of-life. So I’m curious as to what Rust devs prefer when a higher level language is the right tool for the job.
