I rewrote one of my old tools in Rust, using egui

A few years ago I made my first open-source tool with python using PyQt for the GUI. It functioned, but the tool had some issues. Every time you hit the submit button, the entire thing would freeze up and go into a "Not Responding" state until it had completed. I had tried to get a working background thread in Python, but I couldn't get it working at all.

I have to say, working with egui really made me think about GUIs in a completely different way, I had to restructure lots of things from Qt due to the way that egui handles things since it's immediate mode.

I've been learning rust for about 1.5-2 years now, and I've done some small projects, but I haven't published anything. This is my first publish with Rust. While my code still could use a lot of improvement, I've come a long way. The most recent publish of my tool is substantially faster, it doesn't go into a frozen state, there's a working progress bar & cancel button as well.

I am really glad I pushed myself to learn rust, despite all of the challenges along the way.
