High Performance Rust UI talk
Hi all!
I will be giving a talk on High Performance Rust UI on Friday Dec 2, 8am Pacific time, on Twitch. There will also be a recording for those who can't make it live.
This talk will present my vision on how we might build a solid infrastructure in Rust for UI with a focus on performance. It will discuss some of the shortcomings and limitations of the Druid project as it exists now, and how to address those, based on the new Xilem architecture for reactive UI. A core technology of the new stack is piet-gpu, a 2D vector graphics renderer built for modern GPU compute. This has very recently been ported to WebGPU, and we are very excited about interoperating and collaborating with other projects in the wgpu ecosystem.
Another aspect of the talk is our plan to integrate AccessKit deeply from the beginning, rather than bolting accessibility on later.
The talk will not present a ready-to-use solution, as there is much work still to be done. The main audience is people who might be interested in helping build a great UI toolkit.
Hope to see some of you there!
