An honest question to Rust Foundation
Recently I've applied to one of the developers jobs advertised by the Rust Foundation. Technical questions seemed fine, but there were some about my race and sexual preferences.
I'm honestly puzzled by this. Are there any extra points for the right answer here? If so, what is the right answer? If, on the other hand, my answer doesn't matter, why even ask this question? I'm pretty sure that in some European countries it's outright illegal to ask this during an interview. I really can't think of any good reason why you have to ask this. Can someone explain this? And yes, I could just answer "prefer not to say" but still, someone decided this question should be a part of recruitment process. What was this person thinking?
