Czkawka 5.1 - Unnecessary cleaner of unnecessary files, with sorting, faster image comparison, thread number selection

1.65 is minimal rust version required to build app.I wanted to use latest version available on Ubuntu(1.61.0) but many of the dependencies required a newer version, so I didn't stop development of the application until Ubuntu supported a newer version of the compiler.

After months of work, Czkawka 5.1 is ready for download.

Changes in this version

  • Added sort button
  • Allow to set number of thread used to scan
  • Faster similar images comparing with reference folders
  • Updated to clap 4
  • Used FileChooserNative instead FileChooserDialog(probably can help Flatpak version and Windows/Mac use now native file dialog)
  • Fixed invalid music tags in music files when using reference folders
  • Updated pdf dependency(a lot of less amount of broken pdf false positives)
  • Changed strange PDF error message - "Try at"
  • Treat extensions Mp4 and m4v as identical
  • Improved thumbnail quality
  • Runtime validation if hardlinking works, and if not, disable button with proper message
  • Applied some pedantic clippy lints on project (I found that pedantic rule https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/index.html#needless\_pass\_by\_value can even improve performance - not sure why this is not enabled by default)

Due to a job change and focusing on other projects, work on the application has slowed down a bit but I am slowly getting back to normal mode

The requirements are identical to version 5.0:

  • Linux - Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 36+, Alpine Linux 3.16+, Debian 12+ and a lot of more
  • Windows - 7, 8.1, 10, 11
  • MacOS - 10.15+

Flatpak version will be updated soon.Snap is still not updated because Rust is in too old a version to build it(help needed).
