How to catch performance regressions in Rust

72 points bencherdev

About a year ago I was looking for a tool like Rust perf for my application code. I did some research and found a lot of prior art. However, nothing checked all the boxes I was looking for, so I built Bencher!

Bencher is a suite of continuous benchmarking tools designed to catch performance regressions in CI. That is, Bencher allows you to detect and prevent performance regressions before they make it to production. And of course, it is written (mostly) in Rust!

Bencher consists of:

  • bencher CLI 🦀
  • Bencher API Server 🦀
  • Bencher Web UI

I recently released a GitHub Action, and the ability to auto-generate performance comparison plots for your README that link to a public perf page.
