Just came off a 13 hour crunch
Like the title says. We had some equipment commissioned at work and I had very little time to integrate it (start pulling data) before we needed to actually start using it. Basically an OPC-UA server on a PLC. I only have theoretical experience with that but I went to town for 13 hours using the opcua crate, tokio, sqlx and paho mqtt. Ran into so many problems I hadn’t seen before —nesting tokio runtimes, thanks opcua crate. I had to cut some corners when it comes to robustness but the thing works. Here’s to hoping someone doesn’t trip over a network cable but, damn, it feels good to be able to trust that your code doesn’t just blow up due to some hard-to-debug reason.
Man, I’m tired. I’m sure many of you have similar stories of heroic deeds but it’s draining.
Cheers.
