Announcing Holo: a routing protocol suite written in Rust!

Hey there everyone,

Just wanted to share with you all a project that I've been working on in my spare time for the past two years or so. It's called Holo, and it's a suite of routing protocols designed to support automation-driven networks. Here's the link to the repository: https://github.com/rwestphal/holo

For those who aren't familiar with routing protocols, they're basically distributed algorithms used by routers to figure out how to get to every destination in a network (which, in the case of BGP, is the entire internet). These protocols are designed to quickly react to issues like node and link failures, and to recalculate routes across alternate paths. If you want to learn more about routing protocols, check out this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Routing\_protocol

Compared to other open-source routing protocol stacks, Holo offers a richer set of capabilities that facilitate network automation, which is a growing trend in this field. There are still a few important components missing, notably the BGP and IS-IS protocols, but I intend to get there eventually, one step at a time :)
