What are the unique benefits of Rust over C++?
Is there a list somewhere, showing what Rust can do, which C++ just cannot, even with all the latest compiler flags or language/library features. I keep reading about Rust, but most of the selling points I read are comparable to simple compiler flags, smart pointers, or even just good/smart dev practice etc. I get the "safe by default" as one selling point (especially if working with junior devs) and the concurrency safety looks interesting, but for an experienced C++ dev (working with C++20), what does Rust have to offer?
For me personally, I'm an experienced C++ dev looking for reasons to switch to Rust. I'm currently on the fence, but reluctant as I've spent a lot of effort building up my C++ knowledge. But good reasons to move would be a better personal development experience (DX), or to simply keep up with where the market will eventually go. The rapid rise in popularity of Rust web technologies makes me think that's a future domain for it.
Note: Not trying to start a fight, or pick holes in Rust, but genuinely want to find more information so I can convince myself that it's a worthwhile investment of time (for me, or people like me) to make the substantial shift over from a well known, currently popular language to a very promising, but up and coming Rust.
Note 2: I was apprehensive posting here, as people can take things personally and get defensive, which seems to be the case already.. I'm sure if I posted this in r/cpp I'd get the same from the other way. Classic tribalism.. Might just delete this is people want to downvote it into oblivion.. Maybe I'll try r/programming
