What is Rust's potential in game development?
This isn't a "Is C++ dead???" or "Rust replacing C++???" type of question. Not really all that concerned about C++. This is just a question purely about Rust's potential in game development. Not talking about right now. I'm referring to its possible potential in the future. I'm not a game developer, so I'm not too privy on what's required and expected in that world, both in terms of the languages + the tools they offer and the culture/community backing said languages. I'm honestly not even too sure how I should be phrasing this question, tbh. It's just that I'm really interested in learning Rust right now (on ch.3 of the Brown book), and I'm looking forward to creating APIs with it. But it'd be cool to be able to do a lot of other things with it, like game development or even something like OS development.
That make me wonder, and I know that this is completely unrelated, so I apologize for asking in this thread, but, for those who are experienced in OS development, what do you think about Windows being programmed in Rust? Is it a feasible idea? I'd imagine not, as the devs would probably have to rewrite a lot of things (if not everything) from scratch, but it doesn't hurt to ask, I guess lol
