I Added CNNs and GPU support to my Neural Network library made from scratch + speaking about it soon at the Scientific Computing in Rust workshop
Hello everyone!
A few months ago I shared with you my Neural Networks library project that I made during my studies (1) and got a whole load of awesome feedback. It gave me a lot of motivation, thank you for that!
I then showed it to my teachers at INSA Lyon in France, some of whom started research on CNNs back in the mid 90s. They gave me load of ideas to try, which is why I worked during the past months on my free time to add CNNs and GPU support mostly thanks to ArrayFire's Rust bindings (someday I'll also have pure Rust GPU support I hope) which was quite a challenge (having obscure segfaults despite coding in Rust is quite a pain). Alongside many smaller features, docs and ergonomy updates.
Then, my speaker application at the Scientific Computing in Rust 2023 workshop (2) got accepted, so I've been polishing the framework quite some more. And I'll now be preparing a 7 minutes talk about the state of NNs in Rust and what my framework's goals and philosophy are regarding that matter. If you are interested, register and come to this very cool event full of experts (and me, a student lost in there ;-) ), I'll leave the link below.
You can check out the new version if you want (which was renamed to "jiro\_nn") :

Have an awesome week everyone.
