Is the Rust Borrow Checker Really That Challenging?

Let me start like this: I've wanted to learn Rust for a while now. But I got discouraged because people on the internet say the Rust borrow checker is tough to understand. This made me unsure about learning Rust, and I'm kind of scared to even try.

Is the borrow checker really that difficult? If it is, could you suggest some good ways to learn both Rust and the borrow checker? By the way, I'm coming from a JavaScript/TypeScript background
