Book on Rust macros
Hi!
I’ve been writing a book on macros for Manning, working title ‘Rust Power Tools’.
Why? When I was learning Rust, I found that there were great tutorials on most subjects that I could think of. But when I wanted to learn more about procedural macros, the materials were a lot less abundant. I guess most people learn how to use them by experimenting and comparing with open-source code? Personally, I like to have a book for a more ‘structured’ learning approach. And if that book does not exist yet, why not write it yourself? 😀
I’ve been working on the code and text since the start of this year. By now, the first six chapters are already available in MEAP form. The raw content for the rest of the book has been written, but the last few chapters are still being checked by the editors. Also, the second half of the book (everything after chapter 5) still has to pass peer review. So apologies in advance for any errors that haven’t been expunged yet.
If you’re interested, check it out. But it might be worthwhile to wait one day because apparently on Saturday (21/10) the book will be sold at a 45% discount, as part of their ‘Halloween Showdown’... And I’ll try to update this post if Manning sends me other discounts in the future.
