Hi, I'm seeking for a good stack for my new app, and I reached Tauri, but I have a few doubts.
First of all, let me explain my situation
I need to build a desktop app, maybe also for mobile, but this would be later. This app would need some SQL stuff, not too much desktop integration.
The main reason to no develop a simple web It's avoid using servers.
Right now I'm good with typescript and react. Also python but I think it won't be useful for that.
I don't know rust, but I don't mind to learn.
My first thought was about electron, some apps I use are made with electron, it's widely used and fits my language knowledge, but, maybe it's a bit bloat, some of the apps I use are slow even for "simple" purposes. Also bundle size could be close to 200M for a simple text editor. Apps like VSCode are very optimized despite that, but I'm not Microsoft,
So I saw Tauri, It looks great, even made my first "hello world" app in twenty minutes, but I cannot find serious projects using this technology. Most of the stuff I found are simple hobby projects abandoned a couple of years ago. Even most of the posts on the internet talking about Tauri are from 2022.
