BuffDB - Protobuff Data Layer from Time Maintainer

52 points buffdb

Hi fellow Rustaceans, I am Jacob, I maintain the time crate, was an inaugural Rust fellow, and work at an open source startup where we saw an interesting problem. For embedded devices, it is difficult to work with protobuffs. I would like to know what people think about the project, any advice, or if you have any interest.

Here is the repo: https://github.com/buffdb/buffdb

Crate is here: https://crates.io/crates/buffdb

Rust docs here: https://docs.rs/buffdb/latest/buffdb/

At the high-level, I think will be most useful as a library for multi-plexing, compatible with rocks, sqlite, and duckdb using gRPC/QUIC/Thrift. They all have different issues but I need a mixture of options that can be deployed in browser applications, mobile applications, and other embedded environments. I’m currently working on a branch to demonstrate querying with JavaScript and will probably add a change data capture feature, but I am eager to hear what other people think.

Right now, it is still very experimental, and I don’t know exactly where this will go, but maybe it is interesting to you :)
