Zed is a fantastic editor for Rust

Initially I used VSCode but I kept having problems with Rust-Analyzer and switched to Rust Rover (still free for non-commercial use) but Rust Rover has been causing kernel panics on Mac OS lately.

I've since switched to zed and have been very satisfied. Zed was written in Rust and it either supported Rust out of the box or else downloaded the relevant extensions automatically.

It is minimal, fast, and reliable - no kernel panics or wild Rust-Analyzer results. I do wish the VSCode keymap more accurately matched the actual VSCode key bindings (this can be configured) and that hot-keys used to display the terminal, solution explorer, etc. would toggle these displays instead of opening them only (this might also be configurable, I haven't yet checked).

Overall, if you've had problems with VSCode or Rust Rover, or if you would like to try something new and are using \*nix (Windows isn't supported, yet)I highly recommend Zed.
