SolarSim - A 3D N-Body/Solar System Simulation made with Bevy
Hey, I just wanted to share my N-Body/Solar System Simulation I made. This is how it works:
- A scenario system, where you can create, edit and launch different compositions of bodies, or re-create missions like Voyager-1. There is a solar system scenario built-in including all major planets and moons.
- A full built-in editor showing you directly what you will see when starting the simulation
- Support for loading initial positions, velocities and rotations alongside shapes from SPICE\* files
- True to scale gravitational simulation of all bodies
- Simulated planetary rotation speeds
- Drawing orbital lines of bodies
- Manipulating orbits by changing masses
- High quality 3D models of all planets and moons from NASA
- Speed up the simulation by increasing substeps or timesteps
SPICE files contain mentioned data and can be obtained from NASA, which has them for every planet, their satellites/moons, spacecrafts/missions and so on. The editor uses ANISE, a Rust toolkit for reading data from those SPICE files.
