Just proud of a little success in my Rust journey.

I've been dedicating about 2-4 months every year around Christmas give or take to tackle focused learning of rust resources, and participate in the advent of code at the same time.

Today I finished automating a task that cost the company around 6hrs of high wage employee rates each week to accurately address. The code runs in 0.07 seconds and it was remarkably simple, taking me only around 3hrs direct coding time all up, and the only thing that really slowed me down at all were a few regex's..

The program removes a manual task that nobody liked performing and that everyone agreed that the fact that it had to be done manually was only a compromise of a necessary act because the systems didn't incorporate a single function we needed. That act introduced human error with a painstaking manual administrative effort...

I can't believe that I was able to go in, do this task for a few fortnights, get an understanding of the flow of data and why it needed to be manually completed due to a missing functionality, and then in just two shifts, build a working solution complete with error handling...

Sure the task still has a manual touch to it but two steps and a button as opposed to hours of manual calculations is a huge gain!

Rust feels so good after spending time working with the learning curve. I just wanted to share, and ask if anyone else has had similar small scale successes that they may not have had the chance to celebrate with anyone??
