Nanocl: The Rust Developer-Friendly Kubernetes Alternative

Hello, Rust community!

It's hard to believe it's been a year since my last post! I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting progress we've made with Nanocl.

What’s New?

  • Jobs: We’ve introduced a new feature called "jobs," which allows you to run a set of commands for various tasks, such as generating SSL/TLS certificates, backing up your database, and more. You can execute these jobs once or schedule them to run periodically, similar to cron jobs.
  • Secrets Management: You can now add environment variables to your cargos and jobs, and securely mount TLS/SSL certificates. This enables seamless end-to-end SSL/TLS communication between the proxy and your cargos.
  • Docker Desktop Support: We're thrilled to announce that Nanocl now fully supports Docker Desktop, specifically for macOS users! This enhancement allows macOS users to run and manage their applications locally, making it easier to integrate Nanocl into existing Docker workflows.
  • Other Enhancements: There are many more updates! Check out our changelog and recent blog posts for all the details:

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the positive feedback on my previous post and the incredible support you've shown for Nanocl. Your encouragement has led to some fantastic opportunities, including invitations to speak at events like GDG in Tbilisi and Open Source Day in Florence. We were also invited to have a stand during The Merge in Berlin!

Our next big step is integrating network meshing. If you have experience with tools like Calico, Cilium, or Flannel and would like to contribute, your expertise would be greatly appreciated!

Additionally, I’m more than willing to mentor anyone interested in participating in the project. If you want to learn Rust and cloud technology, feel free to join our Discord community: Join our Discord.

Thank you all once again for your support! I'm looking forward to your feedback and contributions!
