Thousands of (fake?) downloads on crates.io

I've published a few crates on crates.io that I don't really think anyone but me really would have any interest in, and I've searched far and wide for anything that uses a part of my crate. Yet when looking at my download statistics, I have around 4000 lifetime downloads that spike at each version.

Is there some sort of LLM content scraper/backup/research project that just periodically downloads crates? Do people try out new crates from the "new releases" page?
