Why is there so much push back with rust?
Honestly, I’m starting this discussion because I’d love to hear what you all think. I’ve seen a ton of pushback from older developers when it comes to Rust, and I never seem to get a clear answer as to why.
Recently at my job, I rewrote an inventory CLI app in Rust—all by myself—in about two weeks. When I presented it, my superiors loved it and want me to keep working on it. Needless to say, the other three developers (all in their early 40s) are now threatening to quit over it.
I mean, it took them two months to do the same thing in C, while I managed it in two weeks with Rust (and a little help from some libraries). And even aside from that, there are plenty of people who either hate the thought of Rust or, like me, are determined to fit it in🤣. Honestly, Rust has made programming so much more fun for me. I thoroughly enjoy building stuff with it
