What do you feel Rust is not a good option for? Like a general back-end where performance is fine with a Garbage Collector? Something like that, whether Rust would still be a great option or not.
Just curious about it: what experiences and frustrations can you share? One of mine is that I'm wondering if it's still worth the time waiting for the code to compile when it's not a performance-critical service, and I could just use something like Elixir, F#, Go, etc.
I'm still choosing Rust for this because I really love the language and don't mind the process of creating my own 'frameworks and libraries' where the ecosystem lacks maturity. I did the same with Go eight years ago, and it wasn't as difficult to create the libraries as people think. So, I believe I can use Rust just fine for general back-end development. My only regret is when compilation takes too long, and I feel the slower feedback loop for quickly launching features I need.
