C or Rust ?
Hey everyone,
I want to get into system programming, and I’ve just started reading The Linux Programming Interface. The book is great, but all the examples are in C.
The thing is, I already know Rust (at a decent level), and I’m more comfortable writing code in Rust than C. So my idea was, read the concepts from the book, and then try to implement the examples in Rust instead of C (maybe translating them myself or with some help).
But I’m not sure if that’s a good approach.
Would I miss important low-level understanding by skipping C?
Or is it fine to learn the concepts from the book and apply them directly in Rust?
please guide me :
option 1 : Learn C first and follow the book as-is
option 2 : Stick with Rust and translate/implement everything myself
thank u
